Wheezing (c)

Download WAV file (431 kB)

This wheezing over trachea and right lower lung was recorded from an 11-year old girl with acute asthma. The stereo recording plays tracheal sounds on the left and lung sounds on the right.

The respirosonogram provides a visual representation of the content of the respiratory sound recording. Time is shown on the horizontal and frequency on the vertical axis. Sound intensity is indicated on a color scale, ranging from red (loud) over yellow and light green (medium) to dark green and gray (low). The breathing signal from a pneumotachograph is plotted at the top (flow signal in blue with inspiration [I] above the center line, expiration [E] below).
